Plastic Fabrication Project

So back in October, I came across something called Precious Plastic on youtube.

So I checked it out, and despite the hippie green bullshit, it looks quite useful.

It basically is a recycling program that is DIY.  They got these machines, open source to make money with scrap plastic.

So working on this thing, I built the compression oven first.

www.preciousplastic.com  is the site for the blueprints.

Today using the compression oven I made my first usable block of HDPE engineering plastic. From Coke plastic bottle caps.

The project also has a shredder, injection molding machine, plastic extrusion machine and the compression molding oven.

Engineering plastic here is 30 bucks for a 1 square foot piece 1 inch thick.

I can make the same in house with scrap used plastic for a buck.

Next step is to build a shredder, more ovens, and process plastic for machine shops.
