This also fits into the non-profit nature of OpenBazaar, which enables users to avoid using services that charge predatory fees for hosting transactions for buyers and sellers.

Overall, the platform could provide a means for online buyers and sellers to avoid the risk of costly scams and focus on what Hoffman says people should be free to do: engage in commerce without barriers.

OpenBazaar is a decentralized marketplace proof of concept. It is based off of the POC code by the darkmarket team and is now licensed under the MIT license.

Build Instructions

For Linux and OSX users, run these commands:

git clone https://github.com/OpenBazaar/OpenBazaar.git

cd OpenBazaar


After running the configure.sh script you should have an OpenBazaar installation ready to go, to start run:

./openbazaar start

OpenBazaar will open in a random port on your default web browser. Note that it may take several minutes for OpenBazaar to completely start.
